Britney Spears Reacts To Impending Fan Site Closure

Britney Spears has personally addressed her fans following news that one of her major fansites is shutting down.

Worldofbritney.com webmaster Ruben Garay announced last month he would be shutting his site down as a result of Spears? public profile, which has taken a beating in recent months. ?As Britney keeps losing her identity and credibility within fans and industry people, so is WoB,? he posted last month.

After spending last night at Los Angeles club Area, this morning, Britney acknowledged the impending closure by responding on her personal Web site.

?I noticed today that one of my biggest fansites is shutting down soon and I want you all to know that I do understand all the reasons that went behind making that decision, and I am sad to see it closing,? she wrote on britneyspears.com.?If I were you I’d be unhappy too if I had to read what I’ve been reading every day. But trust me, I get it. I know I’ve been far from perfect and the media has had a lot of fun exaggerating my every move, but I want you all to know that I love my fans so much, and I appreciate everything you have done for me.?

Spears? post to fans comes in the wake of several high profile weeks following her filing of divorce papers against her husband of two years, former back up dancer Kevin Federline. She?s been criticized by fans and the media for hooking up with party girls Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan and attracted international attention for being caught by the paparazzi on no less than four occasions without panties.
In her post, the popstar says the press reports covering her life recently have been inaccurate.

?The last couple of years have been quite a ride for me, the media has criticized my every move and printed a skewed perception of who I really am as a human being.? she wrote. ?Behind every decision I have made in my public life there always seems to be an apparent contradiction. I have come to terms with that which is why I usually don’t pay much attention to it.?

Britney wrote that after contemplating her future career moves, she?s hard at work on her new album and will release it later this year. ?I look forward to coming back this year bigger and better than ever, and to also reaching out to my fans on a more personal level.? she posted.

On Wednesday night she reached out to her former choreograhper Brian Friedman. For more information on what they got up to in Los Angeles, click the article “Britney: Not Too Pooped To Party” on the right.
