Brittany Murphy’s Final Film Due In Summer

Late actress Brittany Murphy’s last film, “Abandoned,” will be released this summer, according to Reuters.

Anchor Bay Entertainment has reportedly picked up the film, a psychological thriller produced by Jeffrey Schenck and Barry Barnholtz.

“Brittany will be deeply missed by everyone who worked on ‘Abandoned.’ The film is a taut thriller which portrays Brittany’s character as smart and tough – and that’s how we all want to remember her,” the producers told the news service in a joint statement.

Dean Cain and Mimi Rogers also star in the film.

Brittany died on December 21, 2009. She was 32.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the Los Angeles County Coroner told Access that the star died of community acquired pneumonia, with multiple drug intoxication, iron deficiency and anemia also among the causes.

A coroner’s office spokesperson further told Access that, according to Brittany’s mother, Sharon Murphy, the star had been feeling ill prior to her death and had scheduled a doctor’s appointment on a Wednesday or Thursday — days before her Sunday death.
