Brittany Murphy’s Half-Brother: Father’s Grave Visit Denial A ‘Travesty’

Brittany Murphy’s father was blocked from visiting his daughter’s grave, the late star’s half-brother confirmed to Access Hollywood.

According to Jeff Bertolotti, his father, Angelo Bertolotti, arrived at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills on Monday to pay his respects – only to have employees deny him information about her gravesite.

“It’s a travesty. I cannot think of a more cruel thing to do to an 84-year-old man,” the younger Bertolotti told Access. “He’s on the birth certificate. For an 80-something-year-old man to go to his daughter’s grave and be turned away is ridiculous. It’s one of the most cruel and unusual things I can think of.”

He acknowledged that his father had been left off Brittany’s death certificate, which may have prevented his ability to visit her resting place, and that the elder Bertolotti would attempt to remedy the situation with the LA County Coroner’s office this week.

“It’ll get cleared up,” Bertolotti said, adding that he himself has not been to the gravesite. “I don’t think anyone from our side of the family is on the list.”

Asked about the recent reports of improprieties with the Brittany Murphy Foundation, Bertolotti — who is not involved in the foundation — was left speechless and did not comment.

“I’ve known [Brittany’s mother] Sharon since I was 13 years old and looking at it from an outside point of view – all of it is absurd to me,” he concluded. “When someone passes, it’s a time to bring everyone together, not turn them away.”

Brittany, the star of such films as “Clueless” and “8 Mile,” died on December 20 at the age of 32.
