Bruce Willis & Family Face A Mob At ‘Die Hard’ Premiere

Bruce Willis was at the center of a crazy scene on Friday night, surrounded by screaming people and explosive flashes of light.

Though it sounds like a scene from “Live Free or Die Hard,” it was actually the New York City premiere of the film that caused such a big commotion. Luckily for Bruce, his family had his back — including ex-wife Demi Moore and husband Ashton Kutcher, as well as Bruce and Demi’s children.

Radio City Music Hall was at the epicenter of the huge event, which drew a throng of eager fans and reporters to midtown Manhattan.

While Willis told Access Hollywood he was excited about the event, the native New Yorker in him just had to point something out. “In New York, because I did used to live here and I actually do still live here now, I always hate to see somebody holding up traffic like this, stopping traffic,” he told Access Hollywood. “If I was driving right now, riding in a cab — I’d be cussing. Be cussing right now.”

“Die Hard” fans actually love to hear Willis cuss, as the popular catch phrase “Yippee Kay-Ay…” can attest to. And with this film, the fourth in the franchise, Willis believes the fans will be quite happy with the finished product.

“I’ve seen the film,” he said, “so, you know, I’m excited because I know it did turn out so well.”

In fact, Bruce told Access’ Maria Menounos earlier this month that the goal in making “Live Free” was to top the original. “It’s at least as good, if not better at times, than the first film,” he said.

Kevin Smith, the man responsible for films like “Clerks” and “Mallrats,” confessed that playing the role of computer hacker “The Warlock” in the movie was a dream come true. “I’ve seen every ‘Die Hard’ theatrically,” he said, “some more then once. It was a no brainer when they called me up. I was like, ‘I’ll pay you to let me do it.’”

Actor Justin Long, whose character helps McClane thwart the latest threat against humanity, told Access what it was like to work with Willis on the film.

“It was really surreal,” said Long, who is best known for his roles in “Accepted” and commercials for Apple computers. “He’s a big iconic action star, and I’m just a small town nerd from Connecticut…The audience will happy to know that I, when the action comes — when it’s time for the real hardcore stuff — I kind of am on the sideline.”

Bruce’s family didn’t stay on the sidelines Friday night. They were all there to support him. Despite having divorced in 2000, Bruce and Demi are still very close –they, along with Kutcher, head up one big, happy family.

Willis told Access that it was his friend, Will Smith, who gave him advice on getting along well with his ex-wife.

“It’s really simple,” he explained. “Put the kids first.”

“Live Free or Die Hard” opens nationwide on Wednesday, June 27.
