Caitlyn Jenner Responds To Ricky Gervais’ Golden Globes Comments

Ricky Gervais took a few jabs at Caitlyn Jenner while
hosting the Golden Globes on Jan. 10, and now the reality star has responded.

“On Ricky, I think I’m going to call the Golden Globes and
see if they need a new host for next year, and we’ll solve that problem,”
Caitlyn joked to reporters at the Television Critics Association Winter Tour in
Pasadena, Calif., on Thursday, where she was promoting Season 2
of her E! show “I Am Cait.”

Caitlyn’s
offer to take over for Ricky comes after the
British comedian began his monologue at the annual awards show by promising to be nicer than he was in his
three previous hosting stints, but then made a joke at Caitlyn’s expense.

“I’ve changed,” he told the audience. “Not as much as Bruce
Jenner, obviously.”

Ricky went on to acknowledge all that Caitlyn has done to advocate for the
transgender community, but then mentioned the former Olympian’s involvement in
a car accident in February 2015 that left one person dead. Caitlyn was cleared
of any criminal wrongdoing in the crash, but was sued by the family of the
woman who died and, in a separate suit, by a second family injured in the
multiple-car crash.

“She didn’t do a lot for women drivers, but you can’t do
everything,” Ricky joked.

While Caitlyn spoke only briefly about Ricky’s Golden Globes
comments during her TCA panel, she did speak at length about her passion for
making a difference in the LGBT community.

“I want to change people’s thinking on this issue. I am
with the greatest group of women you can be with,” she told reporters of her “I Am Cait” co-stars, who were also at the
event.

“I would love at some point to take this show global,” Caitlyn continued. “I want to see what issues face this community around the world.”
