Cameron Diaz On Dating: The Rules Of Love ‘Are Made To Be Broken’

When it comes to dating, Cameron Diaz has a few rules potential suitors need to obey.

“No tricks, honesty, communication, treat people the way you want to be treated, unconditional love,” Cameron recently told Parade of her relationship guidelines. “Those are the things that I think are important.”

Then again, she admits, all can be fair in the game of love.

“But, you know, rules are made to be broken,” she added.

The blonde bombshell – whose “Shrek Forever After” opens in theaters on May 21 – has been linked to a bevy of Hollywood heavyweights over the years, including Justin Timberlake, Matt Dillon, Jared Leto and most recently New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez.

While each of her relationships thus far has come to an end, Cameron said she doesn’t get hung up on finding “the one.”

“I am a romantic. I love romance. I’m not afraid of commitment. I commit to everything I’m doing and I am hopelessly loyal,” she continued. “But I hate predicting the future, I really do, because you just don’t know. I can’t even make up my mind what I’m going to do this weekend.”

Should she eventually find a husband-to-be, the 37-year-old actress said he won’t need to worry about extensive plans for a lavish wedding.

“The mystique and the romance of a big wedding are lost on me. I don’t think that I could ever do something that extravagant. I am not much of a planner. I would probably make the phone call twenty minutes before the bus leaves for the chapel and ask if anyone is available to come,” she revealed. “That’s probably how my wedding is going to end up.”
