Candace Cameron Bure Explains Her Post ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Cleanse

Candace Cameron Bure is defending her choice to start a five-day cleanse after taking heat from her fans.

“After a very indulgent week in Napa, I’m excited to kick off my 5 day cleanse,” she wrote on Facebook on Monday.

The 38-year-old “Full House” alum and former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant explained that she’ll be having “shakes for breakfast & lunch, sensible snacks & a light veggie dinner.”

Some of the star’s fans encouraged her, while others were quick to sound off on her decision.

“Sorry but having to ‘cleanse’ after indulging? Sounds like a more socially acceptable word for purge,” one Facebook user wrote.

“Whatever happened to simple, healthy eating?” another fan asked.

“Girl, you need to eat real food! I know you work out and a mostly liquid diet isn’t helping you, even for a few days. You have to feed the machine!!” one of Candace’s Facebook followers wrote.

Following the not-so-favorable feedback from her fans, Candace chimed in.

“After reading your comments, let me expand! I’m excited to start my 5 day cleanse not to lose weight but to get my body back on track, ridding all the toxins and unhealthy stuff I’ve put in it the last few months. Since being off ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ my body has struggled to find its balance after having danced up to 8 hours a day and eating so clean,” she wrote.

Adding, “After going back to my normal eating habits as well as extended over indulgent summertime vacation eating and normal exercise routine, my body has endured some confusion causing some minor health issues. That is private, so I will not going into detail, but this cleanse is just a step to getting it back on track because I know that food is a key source to healthy living.”
