Candy Spelling Shocked To Hear Daughter Tori Spelling Expecting Fourth Child: ‘She Scared Me To Death!’

Tori Spelling’s most recent pregnancy announcement came just five short months after the birth of her third child, Hattie (in October) and no one was more shocked by the news than Tori’s mom, Candy.

“[Tori] scared me to death. She said, ‘Oh my God – I have to tell you mom, I’m having – what do you call them — Irish twins,’” Candy told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Thursday’s Access Hollywood Live. “I said, ‘You’re having twins?’ And she said, ‘No, no, no. That’s what it’s called when you have a second baby within twelve months!’”

Though the pregnancy was very unexpected and will bring Tori and husband Dean McDermott’s tot tally to four, Candy said Tori isn’t sure the soon-to-arrive baby will be her last.

“She didn’t say she’s finished,” Candy explained. “This was just a surprise. She kept saying, ‘I’m nursing – I can’t get pregnant!’”

Beyond her growing grandmother duties, Candy has become a force to be reckoned with on The Great White Way, producing numerous Broadway plays including her latest gig, “Nice Work If You Can Get It” – which was nominated for multiple Tony Awards this week.

“I’m very hands-on. As a producer you can be as involved or as uninvolved as you want,” Candy said, adding that she tries to be as active in the production of her shows as possible. “I don’t live in New York, but I really go back there a lot.”
