Carlos Leon On Finding Out About Madonna’s Divorce: ‘I Heard It When You Heard It’

Trainer Carlos Leon has revealed he learned his ex, Madonna, and her husband, Guy Ritchie, were divorcing at the same time as everyone else did — earlier today.

“I heard it when you heard it,” Leon, the father of Madonna’s eldest daughter, Lourdes, told Billy Bush for Access Hollywood and “The Billy Bush Show.” “That kind of the stuff like, ‘Woah!’ I stay away from, even if she wasn’t my friend.”

Leon said he tries to stay out of other people’s affairs, but is there for the pair, if they need him.

“It’s none of my business really,” Leon said. “So I stay away from it. All I know is I support Madonna and Guy and of course my daughter and all the children as best I can.”

And last night, Leon supported Lourdes, by helping celebrate her 11th birthday.

“She was with me,” Leon said. “We celebrated quietly… It was quite nice actually.”

Leon revealed he bought his daughter a portable music player.

“I gave her a couple things,” he told Billy. “I always give her things, but this time she wanted something a little different. She wanted one of those things — what are they called? An iTouch.”

Though his own romantic relationship with Madonna didn’t work out, Leon said he and his ex work together to always put their daughter first.

“Parents should learn from us in that way,” Leon said. “Any parent that stays friends, it’s really good, it’s good for the children, it’s good for family values, it’s good for a lot of reasons…You gotta keep it mutual and try to keep it cool.”
