Carmen Electra was briefly romantically linked to Simon Cowell earlier this year, and the actress says she was shocked by news of the Brit’s impending fatherhood.
“I’m very surprised, but very excited for him,” Carmen told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson at the Do Something Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday. “You know, he’s an awesome guy – such a sweetheart – and I think he must be a proud father-to-be.
“I just think it’s wonderful,” she added.
Carmen – who, laughed and replied “maybe” when asked if she and Simon had been spending “lip to lip” and “horizontal” time together – said she doesn’t necessarily believe becoming a dad will “soften” Simon, as she already knows a sweeter side to him than most.
“It may [soften him]. I mean, I’ve only truly have witnessed just a super sweet, sincere, really funny side of Simon,” she explained. “And so I think he’ll be an amazing father. Yeah. So, congratulations Simon.”
Shaun also caught up with Jennifer Hudson to get her take on her former “American Idol” judge’s baby news.
“What? No, this is news to me. I did not know that!” Jennifer said, when asked what kind of father Simon will be. “[He’ll be] a very strict father. Very serious. But congratulations, Simon Cowell.”
Adding, “Simon with a baby? Oh God.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, on Wednesday, reports surfaced that the 53-year-old “X Factor” boss is expecting his first child with Lauren Silverman, 36.
