Carrie Underwood Talks Idol Nerves; Explains Quitting Job For Husband Remarks — He’d Do It For Me!

Carrie Underwood returned to the stage that made her famous on Thursday night.

Following her performance on Thursday night’s “American Idol,” AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman caught up with the superstar, where Carrie talked about how she was feeling after returning to the reality hit’s stage.

“There are so many emotions that hit me when I come here, “ Carrie – who was crowned the “American Idol” Season 4 winner in 2005 — said. “It’s the same studio… I feel like I’m 21 years old again, getting up on stage and singing, and I’m scared!

“I’m more nervous performing here than I am anywhere. And the judges are like, right there,” she added with a laugh. “It’s scary and it’s exciting and it takes me back to a time in my life that was insane.”

The country beauty also clarified her headline-making remarks this week, stemming from a new magazine interview with People where Carrie revealed she strives to be a “hot wife,” and said she would give up her chart-topping career if her husband, NHL player Mike Fisher, asked her to quit.

“That was a bit taken out of context. We talked about marriage and our crazy lives – you know, his job, my job,” she said. “Of course, when you marry somebody, you – or at least I – would do anything to make that work. So if either one of our jobs were causing like, major friction, something would have to change.”

The 30-year-old also said the respect for their relationship is a two-way street.

“He’d quit [for me]! If I called him right now and I said, ‘You need to come with me on the road – I can’t take this anymore,’ he’d do it in a heartbeat,” she said of her husband, who she wed in 2010. “But he’d never ask me to either. And I’d never ask him to.”
