Casting Call: Brad Pitt Ready To ‘Play’ With Edward Norton

Former “Fight Club” buddies Pitt & Norton ready for “Play” time. Cillian Murphy adds color to “Dali.” Plus, Ricky Gervais seeks the “Truth.” It’s all in today’s Access Hollywood Casting Call…

Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are getting back in the ring for “State of Play,” reports Variety.

The film, based on the BBC miniseries, will reunite the duo for the first time since 1999’s “Fight Club.”

Norton will play a congressman whose rapid political ascent is threatened by an investigation into the death of his mistress. Pitt steps into the role of a former politician-turned-journalist whose relationship with Norton is compromised when he overhears details of his newspaper’s investigation into the death.

Norton will next be seen in the drama “Pride and Glory” opposite Colin Farrell. He also stars in the Marvel feature “The Incredible Hulk,” slated for a June 13, 2008 release date.

Meanwhile, Pitt stars in “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” which hits theaters next week.

Cillian Murphy has signed on to join Al Pacino in “Dali & I: The Surreal Story,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Dali” follows the period of Salvador Dali’s life when he produced most of his memorable work and became increasingly flamboyant.

Pacino will play Dali, while Murphy will play a young art dealer named Stan Lauryssens who becomes the painter’s protégé.

The film is scheduled to begin filming in early 2008 in Spain and New York.

Murphy was last seen in the sci-fi thriller “Sunshine.” His other film credits include “Batman Begins,” “Red Eye” and “28 Days Later.”

Ricky Gervais will step in to the starring role in the comedy “This Side of the Truth,” per Variety.

“Truth” is set in a contemporary world where no one has ever lied. Gervais will play a performer who tells the first lie and figures out how to use its power for personal gain.

The film also marks the feature directing debut and the first major project since production wrapped on the HBO sitcom “Extras,” which begins its third season on December 18.

Adam Brody and Josh Lucas have signed on for the drama “Death in Love,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

The join the previously cast Lukas Haas and Jacqueline Bisset in the film, which follows two different story lines about two brothers (Haas and Lucas).

While Haas’ character deals with the death of his mother (Bisset), his brother clamors through life until he meets a scam artist (played by Brody).

Most known for his stint on “The O.C.,” Brody’s film credits include “Thank You For Smoking,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “In The Land of Women.”

Lucas was recently seen in “Glory Road” and “Poseidon.”
