Casting Call: Jessica Biel To Play Wonder Woman?

Is Jessica Biel out for “Justice”? Is Sally Field headed to the White House? Plus, why the “Dark Knight” should have his passport ready. All those answers and more revealed in the latest edition of the Access Hollywood Casting Call…

Jessica Biel is in talks to step into the role of Wonder Woman for the new superhero film “Justice League of America,” reports Variety.

If it happens, this would mark the first confirmed casting news for the DC Comics-based feature, which has also been reported to include Superman, Batman, Aquaman and the Flash.

The film will be helmed by George Miller, whose directorial credits include “Happy Feet,” “Babe: Pig In The City” and “Mad Max 2.”

Warner Bros. declined to comment on the Biel casting, saying they preferred to announce the entire cast at once, rather than piece by piece.

According to Variety, the “Justice League” film could finally lead to a Wonder Woman spinoff, which has long been in development at the studio.

Biel will next be seen in the indie drama “Powder Blue,” alongside Forest Whitaker and Ray Liotta.

After filming on “Powder Blue” wraps in October, the actress is scheduled to begin work on “A Woman of No Importance,” based on the Oscar Wilde play and co-starring Sienna Miller and Sean Bean.

Biel was last seen in the laugher “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.”

And what would Jessica look like donning the star-studded shorts and golden lasso? It might look a little something like this…

Fresh off her Emmy win (and subsequent censored political acceptance speech), it appears Sally Field could be headed for the White House.

Field has signed on to play Mary Todd Lincoln in Steven Spielberg’s biopic “Lincoln,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film, based on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln,” would likely focus on the 16th president’s role in leading the North in the Civil War.

Liam Neeson will play Lincoln. Previous reports had Marcia Gay Harden as a possibility to play Lincoln’s wife, however, it appears Field has now landed the role.

Spielberg will turn his attention to the DreamWorks project once he completes “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”

In addition to her recent Emmy, Field is a two-time Oscar winner for her roles in “Places in the Heart” and “Norma Rae.”

Field, who took home the Best Actress in a Drama for her role in ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters,” last appeared on the big screen in the comedy “Two Weeks .”

Clint Eastwood and Matt Damon are in talks to join the Nelson Mandela film “The Human Factor,” reports Variety.

Eastwood is eyeing the project as a directing possibility, while Damon is in talks to play the captain of the Springboks.

Morgan Freeman has already signed on to star as Mandela in the film, based on the John Carlin book “The Human Factor: Nelson Mandela and the Game that Changed the World.”

Freeman, who is also producing the movie, flew to South Africa last spring to get Mandela’s blessing on the project.

The film takes place following the fall of apartheid, and after Mandela was released from a long imprisonment and became South African president.

Eastwood was brought onto the project by Freeman, who teamed with Eastwood in the past on “Unforgiven” and “Million Dollar Baby.”

It appears Batman is poised to leave the confines of Gotham City for the Far East, as Warner Bros. is hoping to film parts of the upcoming sequel “The Dark Knight” in Hong Kong, reports Variety.

The studio has reportedly applied for the permits to shoot in Hong Kong.

If it goes through, it will mark the first time in the film franchise’s history the caped crusader will battle evildoers in a location besides Gotham City.

However, no word yet whether director Christopher Nolan will call it Hong Kong in the film or make it a fictional locale.

As of now, the studio plans to shoot overseas for nine days in November.

“The Dark Knight” stars Christian Bale as Batman, alongside Heath Ledger, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Michael Caine.

Film is slated to open July 18, 2008.
