Casting Call: Katy Perry Joins ‘Smurfs’ & Robert De Niro Steps Into The ‘Dark’ With Bradley Cooper

Katy Perry gets the big screen blues. Rachel McAdams’ “Wedding” reunion with Owen Wilson. And, Robert De Niro helps Bradley Cooper with his fear of the “Dark.” It’s all in the latest edition of the AccessHollywood.com Casting Call…

Katy Perry is feeling blue. So are George Lopez, Jonathan Winters and Alan Cumming.

The stars have all been tapped to lend their voices to the upcoming live-action/animated “Smurfs” movie, according to Variety.

Perry will likely voice Smurfette, with Lopez taking on the part of Grouchy Smurf; Winters voicing multiple characters and Cumming bring Gutsy Smurf to life.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Neil Patrick Harris has been cast as the lead live action character in the film, which is based on the popular 80’s cartoon series.

Although she won’t be seen on-screen, “Smurfs” marks the feature film debut for Perry.

“Smurfs,” which will begin production later this month, is slated to hit theaters in July 2011.

Rachel McAdams is in talks to “Crash” into Owen Wilson one more time.

The actress is in negotiations to star opposite Wilson in Woody Allen’s upcoming untitled movie, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The duo previously shared the screen in the 2005 comedy “Wedding Crashers.”

French First Lady Carla Bruni and Marion Cotillard have already been announced as co-stars of the new Allen-helmed project, which will be set in France.

McAdams, who was last seen opposite Robert Downey Jr. in “Sherlock Holmes,” will next star in the comedy “Morning Glory,” alongside Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton. The film is set to be released in Fall 2010.

Wilson last starred in “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.” He recently wrapped production on “Marmaduke,” where he lent his voice to the iconic cartoon dog. Wilson will also share the screen with Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman and more in “Little Fockers,” the follow up to “Meet The Fockers,” which hits theaters in December 2010.

Speaking of McAdams, her former “Notebook” co-star Ryan Gosling has found a new big screen BFF – Steve Carell.

Gosling has been cast opposite “The Office” star in an untitled comedy about a dad (Carell) dealing with a marital crisis, according to Variety.

Gosling will play the best friend of Carell’s character, whose life quickly unravels as he tries to manage his relationships with his kids.

No other details were available on the project.

The project marks a return to the big screen for Gosling, who last starred in the 2007 films “Lars and The Real Girl” and “Fracture.”

He currently has two films completed and awaiting release – the drama “Blue Valentine” with Michelle Williams; and the romance period piece “All Good Things,” opposite Kirsten Dunst.

Carell will next be seen with Tina Fey in the rom-com “Date Night,” which hits theaters on April 9, 2010.

Robert De Niro is stepping into the “Dark” with Bradley Cooper.

De Niro will join Cooper in the suspense thriller “The Dark Fields,” according to Variety.

The film, which also stars Elizabeth Banks, follows a down-and-out New York writer (Cooper) who discovers a designer drug that makes him smart, successful and rich.

But when his supply runs out, he quickly finds his life in peril.

De Niro will play a financial mogul who pursues the writer.

Cooper will next be seen as Lt. Templeton “Face” Peck in the reboot of “The A-Team.”

De Niro has three films awaiting release – the aforementioned “Little Fockers”; Robert Rodriguez’s action film “Machete” and the crime drama “Stone” with Edward Norton and Milla Jovovich.
