Casting Call: Laurence Fishburne Joins ‘Man of Steel’ As Clark Kent’s Boss Perry White

Superman will be taking orders from Laurence Fishburne.

Laurence has been cast as The Daily Planet’s editor-in-chief Perry White in “Man of Steel,” Entertainment Weekly reported.

In previous versions of “Superman,” the character has been portrayed as a tough and traditional newspaperman who is always looking to break a big story.

Jackie Cooper played Perry during the Christopher Reeve films and most recently Frank Langella played the role in 2006’s “Superman Returns” with Brandon Routh.

Laurence joins Henry Cavill, who is playing Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams who has signed on to play Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner who will play Martha and Jonathan Kent.

Additionally, Russell Crowe is reportedly in final negotiations to play Superman’s biological father, Jor-El.

“Superman: Man of Steel” is slated for release on June 14, 2013.
