Casting Call: Leighton Meester & Vanilla Ice Join New Adam Sandler Comedy

Adam Sandler is having “Dad” issues – and he’s turning to Leighton Meester and Vanilla Ice – yes, that Vanilla Ice! – to help.

The “Gossip Girl” beauty and the famed one-hit wonder rapper have joined the cast of Adam’s upcoming big screen comedy, “I Hate You, Dad,” according to Variety.

The laugher, which also features Andy Samberg and James Caan, focuses on a father who moves in with his son (Samberg) on the eve of the son’s wedding – and promptly begins feuding with the bride-to-be (Meester).

Vanilla Ice will play an old friend of Sandler’s character.

Production is slated to begin in June, with a summer 2012 release date targeted.

Vanilla Ice – whose real name is Robert Van Winkle – has appeared in a handful of films over the years. Following his acting debut in the 1991 movie “Cool As Ice,” he appeared in the comedy “The New Guy” as well as a “Matrix” spoof, “The Helix… Loaded.”

On the small screen, Ice currently stars in the home improvement reality series “The Vanilla Ice Project” for the DIY Network.

Best known for her role as Blair Waldorf in The CW’s “Gossip Girl,” Meester recently starred in the big screen thriller “The Roommate.”

She’ll next be seen in theaters in the romantic comedy “Monte Carlo,” co-starring Selena Gomez, Katie Cassidy and “Glee” hunk Cory Monteith.
