Casting Call: Paula Patton’s New ‘Mission’ – Join Tom Cruise In ‘Impossible’ Franchise

Paula Patton has a new “Mission” – share the screen with Tom Cruise.

Patton has landed the female role in the upcoming installment of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise – the fourth in the series, representing a franchise reboot – Paramount Pictures confirmed to Access Hollywood.

According to Deadline, who first reported the casting, Patton will play a young spy who works with Cruise’s super-spy character, Ethan Hunt.

Patton is the second big name to join the cast in recent weeks. Last week, as previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, “The Hurt Locker” star Jeremy Renner also joined the cast.

Production on the new “M:I” film is slated to begin in the fall with J.J. Abrams once again on board as producer and Brad Bird directing. The studio is targeting a December 2011 release.

Patton’s big screen credits include “Just Wright,” “Precious: Based on the novel PUSH by Sapphire,” Mirrors,” “Deja Vu” and “Swing Vote.” She recently wrapped production on the wedding comedy “Jumping The Broom,” co-starring Angela Bassett, Laz Alonso, Romeo and Mike Epps.

Patton is married to R&B crooner Robin Thicke. They welcomed their first child, a boy, back in April of this year.
