Casting Call: ‘Tron Legacy’ Sequel In The Works & A Comeback For Winona Ryder?

“Tron Legacy,” the highly anticipated fanboy follow-up to the 1982 original cult classic, won’t hit theaters until December – but a sequel to the reboot is already in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog, Disney – the studio behind both the original and the reboot – already has a team working on the next installment in the sci-fi franchise.

Although no details have been released, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz – writers/executive producers of ABC’s “Lost” who worked on “Tron Legacy,” have already started writing the script.

It is rumored that the duo are working on a possible trilogy to spin-off of “Legacy.” There were also earlier reports that suggested if “Legacy” is a box office hit, Disney might parlay the success into a TV series as well.

Winona Ryder will be making a return to the big screen with hopes that “Cheaters” will prosper.

The actress has landed a leading role in the Ron Howard-directed film, previously dubbed “Cheaters,” but now titled “Your Cheating Heart,” starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The dramedy follows Ronny Valentine (Vaughn), a man who has admired good buddy Isaac Backman’s (James) marriage over the years. But when Valentine discovers Backman’s wife (Ryder) is cheating, his ideals of love and relationships become unhinged.

In landing the role, the actress reportedly beat out a host of leading ladies, including Kate Beckinsale, Uma Thurman and Carla Gugino.

Ryder, whose recent credits include roles in “Star Trek,” “The Informers” and “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee,” is to date still more associated with her starring roles of decades past, including “Girl, Interrupted,” “Reality Bites,” and “Heathers.”

Filming on the new project is set to begin later this month in Chicago.
