Caviezel: New Orleans Kept Him In Character For ‘Deja Vu’

Even when the cameras weren’t rolling during “Deja Vu,” Jim Caviezel sort of stayed in character.

He plays a domestic terrorist in post-Katrina New Orleans.

He says on an intensity level of one to five — five being totally in character — he might keep it around three if he had a big scene coming up.

He says he could “jump from three to five in kind of an hypnotic state.” But, too much of that and “you burn out.”

Caviezel says “the atmosphere” in New Orleans “kind of kept you there.” He says “what you saw everyday, the devastation to and from set, how do you divorce yourself from that?”

“Deja Vu” was the first major movie to shoot in New Orleans after the hurricane.
