CELEBRITY ROLL CALL 2/7/07: Drew, Cameron, Eddie & More!

Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenanigans by Tommy Vergason

DREW BARRY-AMORE?: Since her breakup with Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti weeks ago, everyone has been wondering who Drew Barrymore will be dating next. PEOPLE magazine caught up with the star at the London Premiere of her new movie, “Music & Lyrics,” and inquired about her plansfor a certain romantic holiday coming up next week. The always-gracious Drew didn’t hesitate to divulge the shocking truth: Her Valentine? A bowling ball. Said Drew: “I don’t know what I’m doing, but I’m probably going to go bowling with all my girlfriends.”

But, could there be room for one guy for Drew among all of those “girlfriends?” After she hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend, Drew, according to a report, attended the traditional post-party. At the party, a certain primetime sitcom actor was spotted hanging with her, and by The New York Post’s Page 6 account, they were quite close. A source tells Page 6 that Drew and none other than “Scrubs” star Zach Braff are “definitely dating.” Drew’s rep insists to the Post that they’re just friends.

PLAYING WITH FOOD: Another attendee of the “SNL” post-party was Drew’s close friend Cameron Diaz, who had a very public breakup herself recently with “Mr. SexyBack” Justin Timberlake. A couple days after the party, Cameron was reportedly spottedwith a girlfriend at the Beverly Wilshire in L.A. by a NY Daily News spy, who claims to have overheard Ms. Diaz cheerily discussing her new love-life with surfing champ Kelly Slater. Apparently, Cameron thought a handy prop could aid in her bawdy description, as she reached for…a breadstick.

HE’LL HAVE WHAT SHE’S HAVING?: In other celebrity dating news, rumors have flown over an alleged romantic pairing between Matthew Perry and Meg Ryan, who have beenhanging outtogether in LA lately. E!‘s Ted Casablanca, however, disputes those rumors, claiming that Matthew has been involved with an unnamed lady-friend for quite some time, and that he and Ms. Ryan are simply friends. In fact, according to Casablanca, Meg allegedly dated Matthew’s close friend Craig Bierko for a while, and that is probably how they met. And why they’re hanging out together. As “friends.”

A WICKED GOOD TIME: Speaking of “friends,” one of Matthew’s former co-stars was out and about this weekend, and by all accounts, she looked fabulous. Jennifer Aniston attended a star-studded birthday party for her hilarious pal Kathy Najimy, arriving with her “date” for the evening, Sheryl Crow. A source for E! online said that Jennifer looked “amazing,” and that she was “relaxed and chill.” Other attendees included Christina Applegate, Bette Midler, Matthew Perry, Helen Hunt and “Wicked” star Idina Menzel, who provoked cheers and tears with her present to Najimy: a live performance of the amazing show-stopper “Defying Gravity.”

SOME ‘RAW’ NEWS FROM EDDIE?: An Oscar-nominated actor is reportedly defying something else: nerves. The NY Daily Newssays it caught up with superstar Eddie Murphy last week while promoting his new film “Norbit,” and he confessed that he feels confident enough to get back on the stage to do stand-up comedy after a twenty-year absence. This is great news for Murphy fans, but don’t get too excited yet: The New York Postalso spoke with Murphy, who claims that he may retire in five years when he hits the big 5-0. “I’ve played everything from an old lady to a donkey,” he said, and feels that 30 years in movies may be enough. Say it ain’t so, Eddie!

CONFRONTING HIS DEMONS: Another bit of potentially bad news, at least for “Lost” fans, is that cast-member Harold Perrineau has been signed to headline a new pilot for CBS called “Demons,” in which he’ll be playing an exorcist, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While this is good news for the actor, fans may never get the closure they desperately seek for his character’s storyline on “Lost.” The actor, who plays the charcter of Michael, was last seen in the season two finale sailing off the island with his son, Walt. Fans have wondered since than what actually became of Michael and Walt, and now, unfortunately, they may never know. Regardless, Losties have a reason to celebrate — the addictive show returns tonight after a three-month hiatus.
