CELEBRITY ROLL CALL 2/8/07: Britney Takes Manhattan!

Your Daily Dispatch of Celebrity Shenanigans by Tommy Vergason

THE BRITNEY TRAIN CHUGS ON: Britney Spears continues her whirlwind tour of NYC hot spots this week, and, as usual, her every move is being scrutinized. THE NEW YORK POST’s PAGE SIX reports that on Tuesday she did some shopping at Madison Avenue department store Zitmor, dined with friends at Rue 57, club-hopped at trendy Marquee and Tenjune, and ended the night at McDonald’s (the hottest of hot spots!). While one unnamed witness claims that she was “partying like a college girl” and another says that she was “completely hammered” by the time she arrived at Tenjune at 2:30 A.M., all PAGE 6 “spies” say that she repeatedly asked for all alcohol to be kept away from her. A Rep for Tenjune reportedly said, “Britney was here, but she was not drinking.” A rep for Spears told PAGE SIX , “Britney was at Marquee with friends.” Marquee had no comment.

OUT OF FASHION?: One hot spot that didn’t get a visit from Britney Spears, though, was the Heatherette fashion show, at which she had been scheduled to appear on Tuesday, according to THE NEW YORK POST’s PAGE SIX and THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS. THE DAILY NEWS contends that Britney did show up at the event, but never made it through the door: “Ten minutes before the show started, they got a call that Britney was in the parking area outside,” a backstage witness claimed, “They went out with a Heatherette sweatshirt to throw over her head, but there was no Britney. She got to the parking lot and bailed.” THE DAILY NEWS adds that perhaps the reason she left was because she feared running into “former friend” Paris Hilton, who was expected to model (Paris was also a no-show for the event, incidentally). They cite “backstage gossip” as their source for this tidbit, but there is nothing from Britney’s camp to support that claim. In fact, PAGE SIX reports that she didn’t go to the show because she was allegedly “really scared” of the press awaiting her there.

MISCHA GETS AN AWFUL EYEFUL?: A source reportedly tells US WEEKLY that former “OC” star Mischa Barton ended her relationship with Whitestarr rocker Cisco Adler over the racy photos of him that have allegedly surfaced online. The photos reportedly turned up among Paris Hilton‘s possessions that were posted without her knowledge on the website parisexposed.com, which has since been shut down (as Access Hollywood previously reported). Barton’s rep had no comment, according to US, and Adler’s rep could not be reached. They had been dating since August of 2005.

THEY’RE REAL, AND THEY’RE SPECTACULAR!: Desperate Housewife Teri Hatcher wants to set the record straight on her alleged use of products and procedures designed to keep her looking young and flawless. PEOPLE reports that Teri refutes those claims in an upcoming issue of the British edition of Glamour magazine: “I don’t use Botox or Restylane and I’ve never had any surgery, no matter what you’ve read,” she allegedly says in the interview. Another sore spot for Teri, according to PEOPLE, is the perceived cruelty of on-line writers: “That’s the one downside to fame ? on any one day you can find loads of hideously mean things said about you online,” says Teri, ” [My friend] keeps threatening to put these computer child locks on my computer so I can’t torture myself. It hurts, you know?”

A FABULOUSLY FRANK FACTORY GIRL: Another female celebrity takes a lighter approach in her feelings on looking good for the camera. Apparently Sienna Miller had some extra help in making herself look as great as possible for some nude scenes in her film “Factory Girl,” according to quotes Sienna reportedly gave to Closer magazine on the subject: “They spray makeup all over your body so you don’t see the stretch marks that we girls all have.” Sienna goes on to acknowledge the ill effect time will most likely have on her body: “One day I’ll wake up and my bum will be on the floor.”

MANDY FEELS DANDY: Yet another star speaks out on the strain “body image” can put on a female celebrity. “Because I Said So” star Mandy Moore talks about her feelings on the subject in the upcoming March issue of Seventeen magazine, according to PEOPLE: “I want to be healthy, but in an industry where you can’t wear a sample size because it’s like a 0 or a 2, it makes you feel bad about yourself. To go to a photo shoot, it’s like, ‘Ugh, God, can’t you just at least get a regular size, like a 6 or 8 or something?’ ” But, according to the report, she’s learning “how to deal.” She goes on to say, “I’m not like a toothpick, and I never will be. I’m just a regular-looking person ? and that’s okay. It’s taken a while to come to grips with that since it’s definitely not the norm in my business. But like, who cares? “If anything, that makes someone more special.”
