Celine Dion Ready To Balance Diaper & Stage Duties; Recalls ‘Titanic’ Oscar Memories

Celine Dion is a little less than a month away from her return to the Las Vegas stage in a new engagement at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, but she has more than just a massive production on her plate.

When Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson met up with the Canadian superstar, she was juggling preparations for her new show and being a mom to 4-month-old twin boys, Nelson and Eddy, and elder son, 10-year-old Rene-Charles, and wife to Rene Angelil.

“I’m telling you, you are a 10! You just had two babies!” Shaun said. “Are you emotionally and physically ready to get back?”

“Yes, absolutely. Yes, we thought of putting the show together months and months ago,” Celine said.

Rehearsals for Celine’s new show, which will run for three years at Caesars Palace, began in Florida while she was still pregnant. Now that the babies have arrived, they will blend in with her busy schedule.

“Will there be a nursery backstage? Are the kids coming to work with you?” Shaun asked.

“I can either go to them or they can come to me — it’s going to be practical, it’s going to be easy since I’m still breastfeeding the babies, so it’s every three hours – for both,” Celine explained.

“So it’ll be breastfeeding right before the show and then right after?” Shaun asked.

“And then it’s an hour and 40 minutes in the show. Then I have time to shower and get loose and relax and breastfeed the babies again and then have a bite and go to bed myself,” she laughed.

In the run up to the debut of her Vegas show, Celine has a big performance in store – at this weekend’s Oscars.

“I’m going to be singing ‘Smile’ from Charlie Chaplin,” Celine said.

That song, “Smile,” was Michael Jackson’s favorite tune and when Celine’s show opens at Caesars Palace on March 15, it will feature a special tribute to the late King of Pop.

“Why did you decide to do that?” Shaun asked.

“Well, he changed my life. I saw him on TV and I wanted to sing in English because he was doing so and I went to learn English and met with him and I [sang] with him and he came to see the show and he had a big impact on my life,” Celine revealed.

Celine’s busy life off stage will center around the babies and older son Rene-Charles.

“How has he taken to his little brothers?” Shaun asked.

“He’s in school, he’s got his buddies, he’s 10 years old,” she said. “Of course he’s playing funny face with them, you know he’s doing all that type of things.”

Celine said the twins personalities are completely different. As for looks, Nelson looks more like Rene, Eddy more like Celine.

“Do they like different songs or do you sing a song of yours?” Shaun asked.

“Oh no, I just come up with things,” Celine said. “It’s not like I’m not singing the ‘Titanic’ [theme].”

That theme won an Oscar in 1998, but Celine remembers details of the night like it was yesterday. The thing that stands out the most?

“The $20 million necklace!” she laughed. “I have to tell you this… when I was wearing the necklace… I thought it was like ‘Oh my God!’ I was walking down the red carpet and there [were] bodyguards everywhere with me I’m like ‘Oh my God. I finally made it!’”

“Then, I go onstage and then I hit my chest like ‘This!’ and the heart [necklace] goes (makes a bouncing motion) and I see the bodyguards, and I realized they were not there for me, they were there for the heart,” she laughed.
