Celine Dion is sharing gratitude in her time of sorrow.
The superstar singer posted a heartfelt message to her website on Friday, reflecting upon the "love and support" she's received since both her husband, Rene Angelil, and brother, Daniel Dion, passed away earlier this month. Her words mark the first time she's spoken out publicly since laying both men to rest.
"My family and I are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support from so many people who have touched our lives during these past few days," she wrote. "We have felt your love for Rene, and your prayers and compassion have helped us during this most difficult time... more than you'll ever know. I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Rene and Daniel died just two days apart after lengthy cancer battles.
On Jan. 22, Rene's funeral took place at the same Montreal cathedral where he and Celine were married in 1994. Their son, Rene-Charles, delivered an emotional eulogy that was livestreamed along with the rest of the service.
Celine and her family mourned Daniel at a private memorial the following day.
The five-time Grammy winner signed off on behalf of herself, Rene-Charles, her and Rene's 5-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy, and Rene's three grown children from his previous marriages.
"We will never forget all of the kindness that you have bestowed upon us," her note concluded.
Rene's death was announced on Celine's Facebook page, in a post that celebrated him as "a gentle man, generous and kind, an unprecedented visionary, a modern Pygmalion, a Renaissance man. … All who had the privilege of knowing him and of working closely with him, whether personally or professionally, salute a leader and a man of great intelligence and wisdom."
