Chace Crawford Confirmed For ‘Footloose’

Chace Crawford is about to cut “Footloose.”

The “Gossip Girl” heartthrob has been tapped to star in the remake of “Footloose,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Crawford steps into the role originally made famous by Kevin Bacon in the 1984 film.

“High School Musical” star Zac Efron was originally in line to play the part, however, he stepped away from the project earlier this year, citing a desire to delve into “the unknown.”

Filming on “Footloose” is slated to begin in March.

“High School Musical” director Kenny Ortega is already on board to helm the film for Paramount.

“Footloose” isn’t the only big screen project in the works for Crawford. He recently began shooting the crime drama “Twelve,” alongside Emma Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland and 50 Cent.

“Twelve” follows a high school dropout-turned-drug dealer whose lucrative life takes a dramatic turn when his cousin is found brutally murdered on an East Harlem playground and his best friend is arrested for the crime.

Crawford’s other film credits include the 2008 horror “The Haunting of Molly Hartley” and the 2006 fright flick “The Covenant.”
