Charlie Sheen, Brooke Mueller File For Divorce

Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller both filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

Sheen, through his attorney, filed to end the couple’s almost two-year union, citing irreconcilable differences, according to court papers obtained by Access. Mueller’s filing too listed irreconcilable differences as reason for the couple’s break-up.

The “Two and a Half Men” star is asking for joint custody of the former couple’s twin sons – Bob and Max, who are a year old. Mueller, however, has asked for joint legal custody, but she wants sole physical custody of the boys, with visitation granted to Sheen.

In the filings, Sheen and Mueller list the official date of the couple’s separation as December 25, 2009. Mueller is asking the court to order Sheen to pay her attorney fees.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the couple moved forward on their split in April, with a source telling Access at the time that Mueller had moved out with the couple’s sons. Sheen was arrested on Christmas Day 2009, after he was involved in a domestic dispute at the family’s home in Aspen.

Sheen is currently on probation, which wraps up on Tuesday, after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of third degree assault.

He was sentenced to rehab and probation for the incident as well as 36 hours of domestic violence treatment counseling.

Charlie and Brooke have two children – twin sons Max and Bob – who were born on March 14, 2009.

The couple met in April 2006 before announcing their engagement in July 2007. Sheen and Mueller tied the knot on May 30, 2008.

A rep for Sheen was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Access.

Sheen’s divorce plans come on the heels of his recent hospitalization in New York City last week.

The actor was hospitalized following a night at a New York City hotel with adult film star Capri Anderson.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Anderson, the woman at the center of Sheen’s recent New York hotel scandal, has until Tuesday at 5 PM to file a complaint with the Aspen District Attorney that could affect the actor’s probation. Sheen’s probation is expected to end tomorrow.
