After a whirlwind year – ripe with radio rants, “goddesses,” a cross country live stage show and highly publicized disputes with his former CBS bosses – Charlie Sheen says his seemingly dizzying life has begun to slow down.
“It’s a lot calmer. It’s a lot mellower,” Charlie, 46, told NBC’s Matt Lauer in a new interview set to air on the “Today” show on Friday, when asked about his current “emotional state.” “I don’t really know what happened… I said some stuff and then it caught such traction globally and instantly that I couldn’t really put out the fire. I had to keep fueling it.”
Though the actor said the turbulent times were “pretty exciting,” he admitted he’d amend one key Sheen-ism if given the chance.
“The tiger blood,” the former “Two and a Half Men” star told Matt, when asked what he would have done differently. “It was so silly and people took it so seriously and I figured, alright, I’ll continue to give the people what they want, you know?”
Additionally, Charlie — who said he is currently “absolutely” sober — told Matt he’s shifted the focus in his life, and has made his children with ex-wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller his main priority.
“I’m seeing my kids a lot more, mending fences with Denise and Brooke, just trying to move forward and prioritize what matters,” he told Matt. “You know, just really get back in touch with some more reality… It’s what I call the moments inside the moments. I think that’s where the life is, you know, it’s in those quiet moments. “
Adding, “It’s not the giant TV deal or the big party or the award or whatever, it’s the memory of your child’s smile at the end of the day that sort of brings that one lonesome tear.”
