Cher & Christina Aguilera Teaming Up For ‘Burlesque’

Oscar winner Cher is heading back to the movies.

The superstar has signed on to join Christina Aguilera in “Burlesque,” a musical from Screen Gems, according to Variety.

Steve Antin, brother of stylist Jonathan Antin and Pussycat Dolls empress Robin Antin, will direct the movie. He also wrote the script, which received a revision from Susannah Grant, who wrote the “Erin Brockovich” screenplay.

Cher will play Tess, a burlesque club owner.

“She brings a soulfulness and gravitas to this character that will ground the story,” Screen Gems President Clint Culpepper told Variety. “The only person who was more excited than I am is Christina.”

Christina will play a small-town girl who comes into her own in the club Cher’s character runs.

Both are expected to sing in the production, which begins shooting in November.
