Cher On Chaz Bono: ‘I Still Don’t Remember To Call Her ‘Him’’

Cher may not have totally understood it when her daughter Chastity decided to become Chaz Bono, but these days, she gets it.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair magazine’s December 2010 issue, Cher said that Chaz handled things better than she could have if the situation was reversed.

“If I woke up tomorrow in a guy’s body, I would kick and scream and cry and f***ing rob a bank, because I cannot see myself as anything but who I am – a girl. I would not take it as well as Chaz has,” Cher told the mag. “I couldn’t imagine it.”

The “Burlesque” star admitted that she occasionally refers to Chaz by the wrong gender, but her son doesn’t let it ruffles his feathers.

“Well, she’s a very smart girl — boy! This is where I get into trouble. My pronouns are f***ed,” Cher said. “I still don’t remember to call her ‘him.’ She’s really cool about it —such an easygoing person.”

The superstar also talked politics in the lengthy feature, opening up about how the last election had her hooked – so much so that she even called C-SPAN on occasion and found herself upset over former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

“I got so obsessed with it that it was kind of interfering with my life. Sarah Palin came on and I thought, Oh, f***, this is the end. Because a dumb woman is a dumb woman.”

Cher also had a few choice words for Arizona Governor Jan Brewer:

“She was worse than Sarah Palin, if that’s possible,” Cher said. “She’s got a handle on the services of the state, and I would not let her handle the remote control.”
