Chris Hemsworth Explains Baby Name Inspiration

Chris Hemsworth became a first-time father last week, when wife Elsa Pataky gave birth to the couple’s daughter, India.

And for anyone who is wondering where the inspiration for the name came from, the big screen hunk says people can stop wondering.

“It was just something we both loved – there was no great sort of thought behind it,” Chris told Access Hollywood guest correspondent Tim Vincent over the weekend while promoting “Snow White and the Huntsman” in London.

“There were a few ideas sort of bouncing around and everyone said to me, ‘Just wait until they are born and then you’ll know’ and it seemed to fit,” the star added.

Although, Chris admitted he did have one other moniker in mind for his little bundle of joy.

“I wanted to call her Indiana Jones, but it didn’t work out too well for a female, so India was the version,” he laughed.

Now that he’s got a few days of fatherhood under his belt, how is Chris handling being a dad?

“It’s good. Just trying to lay down some sleeping [patterns] and what have you, which is completely out of my hands,” he joked. “It’s pretty evident right away that she’s the boss. She’s running the show. She’s dictating the schedule.”
