Chris Pratt Remembers Late Father With Touching Tribute

Chris Pratt has shared a sweet childhood memory to honor his late father.

On Saturday, the actor Tweeted a throwback photo of his dad, Dan Pratt, who lost a lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis in 2014.

In the snap, a young Chris and his brother Cully are smiling alongside their dad and showing off a pair of fishing poles. The “Guardians of the Galaxy” star said that outdoor trips like these made for successful bonding time while growing up, and he was grateful to have had the chance to get to know his father while he was still healthy.

“Your to do list: 1)have kids 2)play outside 3)teach them to fish 4)take pictures,” Chris captioned the shot. “Thanks Dad. Miss you man.”

Dan passed away while Chris was in New Orleans shooting “Jurassic World,” and the actor said in an interview with GQ in June that he “compartmentalized” his grief and “dealt with it in my own way” to try and prevent the loss from affecting his work.

“I knew, being the lead in the movie, that I was really responsible for everybody’s attitude,” he explained.

His efforts may have helped him keep his cool on set, but Chris admitted that he did lash out at least once on his own time.

“I got pretty angry and got drunk and almost got in a fight with a drug dealer outside of my hotel room,” he told the mag.

Chris went on to say how he’s noticed himself mirroring his dad’s mannerisms as he gets older.

“Physically, we look similar,” he said. “And sometimes I hear his voice coming out of my mouth – some of the things he says, some of the things I would say.”

The actor said Dan was “an old school dad” and “good at building things,” and recalled a special gift he received that served as “the perfect metaphor.”

“Dad left me a compass that didn’t work,” Chris laughed, saying Dan would “always be there to guide me” nonetheless.
