Christina Aguilera Files For Divorce

Two days after news of their separation first broke, Christina Aguilera has filed for divorce from husband Jordan Bratman.

In the papers filed on Thursday in Los Angeles, and obtained by Access Hollywood, the Grammy winner cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

While news of the couple’s split broke this week, according to the papers, Aguilera says the date of separation was September 11, 2010.

In the filing, Christina says she is seeking joint physical and legal custody of the couple’s 2-year-old son, Max. She is also asking the court to terminate Jordan’s right to spousal support.

Additionally, according to the papers, the couple did have a prenup agreement.

On Tuesday, a rep for Christina confirmed the couple had split, with the singer issuing a statement.

“Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever,” Christina said in the statement to Access Hollywood.

Christina, 29, and Jordan, 33, began dating in 2002, before announcing their engagement in February 2005. In November 2005, they tied the knot in a wedding ceremony in Napa Valley – the first marriage for both.
