Christina Aguilera Ready For AMA Performance; Will She Return To The Voice?

Christina Aguilera will soon hit the stage, performing at the 2012 American Music Awards next month, and the pop superstar can’t wait to be in front of her fans again.

“I’m definitely ready to get back out there,” Christina told Access Hollywood at the 2012 AMA nomination announcements. “The AMAs is an exciting platform to showcase what that’s all about.”

“The Voice” coach is excited for fellow pop stars Rihanna and Nicki Minaj, who are leading the AMAs in terms of nominations this year.

“I’m so happy for them! I love what both of them do,” Christina said. “I have appreciation for the risk-taker approach – I’ve always been one myself.”

And the singer’s cover of her new album, “Lotus” (where she is seen nearly naked), is proof of her willingness to take risks. Christina said the edgy shot represents her “rebirth.”

“[It’s about] embracing everything about the person that I’ve grown to be since the last record,” she explained. “A lot of changes have gone down – I’m a coach, etc. So, it’s really fun for me to come to this place of freedom and independence and express that on many different levels throughout the album.”

As for whether Christina will return to coach “The Voice” for Season 5, the “Your Body” singer said she’s not entirely sure.

“We’ll see where everything goes,” she said. “But I definitely know that I have to step away from it for a second so that I can regenerate my own artistry and get back to what my ultimate love is.”

Catch Christina on the 2012 American Music Awards – November at 8 PM on ABC.
