Claire Danes and Damian Lewis took home the Emmys’ top acting awards for Showtime’s “Homeland” – which also won the Best Drama award – and the stars told Access Hollywood the upcoming Season 2 will have plenty of nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat action.
“It’s going to get intense. We’re learning about where the season is going as it’s unfolding and they’re not taking it easy on me,” Claire, who is still filming the upcoming season while pregnant with her first child, told Access’ Shaun Robinson.
”[My pregnancy is] all OK… I’ve been very lucky so far,” she said.
Co-star Damian explained that the new season will be just as fast paced as the first season, despite Claire expecting her bundle of joy.
“They haven’t compromised the show,” he said. “This baby could come early if she gets chased across too many more rooftops!”
After his win, Damian joked with the press that Claire and husband Hugh Dancy might be surprised when the baby comes out with red hair.
“We’re going to go away to a romantic island together, just for the weekend,” he told reporters when asked if he and Claire had any special post-Emmy plans. “When that baby is ginger, you guys are going to have a field day!”
When Shaun asked about his playful joke, the English actor was a bit more reserved.
“It’s a silly joke… a lot of people don’t get irony around here, I’ve got to be a bit careful,” he said with smile.
The 33-year-old actress was quick to joke right back with her co-star and fellow Emmy winner.
“How’s your pregnancy going?” she asked Damian.
“I thought about having a sympathy pregnancy with you, but it’s too hard, I just keep sweating everything off,” he told Claire and Shaun.
“Homeland’s” Season 2 premieres on Showtime on September 30 at 10 PM.
