Clint Eastwood To Receive Humanitarian Award

Clint Eastwood’s being honored for making some movies with a humanitarian bent.

Eastwood will get the first-ever Jack Valenti Humanitarian Award at a private dinner Tuesday in Washington.

The head of the Motion Picture Association of America, Dan Glickman, says for decades Eastwood “has exemplified the decency and goodness of spirit in his moviemaking.” He says his two current releases, “Flags of Our Fathers” and “Letters from Iwo Jima,” exemplify the true power of movies to tell human stories and inspire national conversation.”

‘Flags Of Our Fathers’ Premiere

Eastwood’s nominated for an Academy Award for directing “Letters from Iwo Jima” and the film is up for best picture.

The humanitarian award was named after the MPAA’s longtime chief, Valenti, who helped choose Eastwood as its first recipient.
