CMT Award Mishaps: Shania Twain Takes A Tumble & Sheryl Crow Flashes Her Underwear

The CMT Music Awards was a star-studded affair on Wednesday night in Nashville, full of country music’s biggest names, bold styles, high-profile performances – and a few flubs.

The thousands in attendance – and millions watching on TV – witnessed two of country’s powerhouse divas, Shania Twain and Sheryl Crow, in a pair of memorable-for-all-the-wrong-reasons moments.

Shania entered the sold-out Bridgestone Arena, where she was set to present “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton with the award for Best Male Video of the Year, but it was her entrance – and not the award – that made headlines, as she took a spill during her walk to the stage.

Always the good sport, the singer – who blamed the fall on her high heels — laughed off the gaffe in a video message posted after the show.

“I just made a complete fool of myself and experienced one of life’s most embarrassing moments,” Shania said in the taped message on her website. “I don’t need a stunt double. I didn’t hurt myself. I have a bit of a sore thumb and that’s about it.”

While Shania’s slip-up was due to a momentary absence of grace, Sheryl Crow’s CMT mishap was a wardrobe malfunction of sorts.

While on-stage performing a duet with Kid Rock, Sheryl – who was wearing a white jacket and short skit while sitting on a stool – uncrossed her legs, subsequently flashing her underwear to the aforementioned audience of thousands in attendance and millions on TV. Taking it all in stride, Sheryl later returned to the stage to present an award with fellow singer Sara Evans, as both of them joked about Sheryl’s brief peep show.

“Well, at least you were wearing underwear,” Sara jabbed.

“I was wearing underwear,” Sheryl replied. “’Cause I’m good, clean family entertainment.”
