Common’s ‘Finding Forever’ Finds The Top Of The Charts

NEW YORK, NY (August 9, 2007) — Common tops the The # 1 debut is a career first for the soulful rapper, who got help this time around from Kanye West on production and British songbird Lily Allen on guest vocals. “Finding Forever” sold 155,329 copies this week.Korn comes in at # 2 with the debut of “Untitled,” their seventh consecutive Top 10 album. At 123,142 copies sold, they just edged out the “Now 25” hits compilation, which falls to # 3 after two weeks at the top of the chart.The “Hairspray” motion picture soundtrack drops two spots to land at # 4 this week, while “Hannah Montana 2 (soundtrack)/Meet Miley Cyrus” inches down a notch to come in at # 5. The 6th spot belongs to rising hip-hop/reggae star Sean Kingston and his self-titled debut album. The 17-year-old newcomer made a big splash last week when his smash single, “Beautiful Girls,” leaped from # 23 to # 1 on the “As an artist, my goal is to make powerful and classic album,” Kingston said. “I want everyone to feel my music and understand my heritage and that’s what this album will do. The music is all about the authentic Sean Kingston vibe.” “Kidz Bop 12,” the latest volume of family-friendly cover songs, debuts at #7.
