Corey Feldman: No Public Memorial For Corey Haim

There will not be a public memorial for late actor Corey Haim, according to what appears to longtime friend Corey Feldman’s blog.

“Now I must be the bearer of some very disappointing news to many of you out there,” he wrote. “After weeks of consideration and planning, the ultimate decision has been made by Corey’s mother Judy Haim to not go forward with a public memorial service. Instead we will have a very small private dinner with just a few close friends in LA.

“Her reasoning for this is that she is in tremendous grief and feels that to create an event celebrating Corey’s life would be too much for her to bear at this time,” Feldman’s blog post continued. “She did ask me to convey to you that she has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of your support and wants you to keep Corey alive by visiting his website at”

The actor, who co-starred with Haim in a number of films, as well as the reality show “The Two Coreys,” added that the loss of his friend has been “very difficult” for him.

“I stayed indoors crying every day for 2 weeks,” he said before criticizing the paparazzi and press for “attacking” him. “The second I leave my house they follow me, then make a spectacle, and then berate me for trying to get out of the house and live my life.”

In his process of moving forward, Feldman — who did not attend Haim’s funeral service in Toronto in March — said he’ll be hitting the road with his band, Truth Movement, for “an extensive United States tour” beginning at the end of May.

Haim died on March 10, 2010. He was 38.
