Coroner: Marie Osmond’s Son Death Officially Ruled Suicide; No Drugs Involved

The death of Marie Osmond’s son, Michael Bryan, has officially been ruled a suicide by the Los Angeles Coroner, which announced the news on Wednesday afternoon.

The Coroner’s office reported that Bryan — who died on February 26 — died of multiple blunt trauma, after he jumped off of a balcony in Los Angeles. No drugs were found in the 18-year-old’s system, toxicology reports concluded.

A friend of Bryan’s – Ruthann Clawson – told investigators that Bryan had previously attempted suicide three times by hanging, according to the witness statement included as part of the Coroner’s report.

Clawson and another witness, Tan Eu, Bryan’s roommate, claimed Bryan was suffering from depression following some “bad school grades and a recent visit from a former girlfriend.”

Additionally, Clawson reportedly told authorities that on the night Bryan died, he texted her that he was “feeling like sh**,” and also wrote, “I have a letter for you on my bed.”

Clawson, who lived in the same building, ran downstairs to Bryan’s apartment, grabbed the note and began reading it. While she was reading it she heard sirens and saw Bryan was dead on the pavement below.

Clawson said Bryan was a social drinker and “was not known to have recently used illegal drugs,” the report read.

Additionally, Eu reportedly told authorities that prior to Bryan’s death, he was suffering from an “unknown sickness,” the report said.

According to investigators, Bryan’s balcony was approximately 80 feet above the ground.

Following her son’s death, Osmond canceled a week of shows with her brother, Donny Osmond, in Las Vegas.

A funeral for Bryan was held on March 8 in Provo, Utah, which was attended by about 450 people.
