CORRECTION: Kelly Clarkson Readies New Album

Kelly Clarkson is heading back. Not only will the original “American Idol” return to the show and the very stage that introduced her to millions but she is gearing up to release a new album too.

This summer, Clarkson says she will drop “My December,” the follow up to her multi-platinum sophomore effort, 2004’s “Breakaway.”

“My album will be dropping this summer (finally),” she posts on her Web site. “And, I’m touring again this summer as well and I can?t wait to see y?all. Sometimes you have to just embrace the nerd inside you and go with it.?

Insiders speculate Clarkson will perform the album’s first single, “Never Again,” on “American Idol’s” charity helping episodes April 24 (Clarkson?s 25th birthday) and 25.

Fans can hear Clarkson’s new song on radio however, beginning April 11.

“I can?t wait for y?all to hear it. I?m so excited! Y?all have no idea how excited, seriously,” Clarkson wrote of her new material. ?I know y?all have been waiting but just imagine having the music for months and not being able to show anyone . . . it?s torture.”

The release is expected to offer a more intimate portrait of the Texan with the big voice.

“The album is very much a story of my life and as you know my life is usually very intense with lots of roller-coaster ride,? she wrote. ?This is my favorite album thus far. It?s got some killer rock stuff, some fun soulful tracks, some beautiful and intimate slower songs, and it’s all me so here’s to hoping you like it.?
