‘Cougar Town’s Josh Hopkins Addresses Courteney Cox Dating Rumors

Courteney Cox and Josh Hopkins may play lovers on the small screen, but according to the actor, they are just friends in real life.

The 40-year-old “Cougar Town” star stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Monday and shot down rumors that he and his co-star were more than just friends, but did admit to understanding why some might have thought their relationship had a little more to it.

“I would admit if I saw that somewhere, I would be like, ‘Those two must be dating. They’re in St. Barts,’” the hunky actor told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover when shown a photo showing the actor and his co-star vacationing together earlier this month. “I get it, I get that!”

Josh, who plays Grayson Ellis on the hit ABC comedy, broke down how he ended up in the islands with Courteney and her daughter Coco.

“The way it happened, we were all getting ready to finish hiatus, [and I said,] ‘I wanted to go to the beach,’ she said, ‘You should come with me to St. Barts.’ I was like, ‘Maybe, you know, I don’t know,’” he explained. “And then the creator, Bill Lawrence, was like, ‘If I’d go anywhere, I’d go to St. Barts.’ Courteney heard it, I said, ‘This sounds great. Let’s do it’ Plus, I’ll get her access, I probably couldn’t get into a restaurant in St. Barts, but with her, I was everywhere.”

The actor said the media created a story out of the innocent trip.

“There was a lot of people with us, but [we’re] the only ones you see, they just frame us two, so it’s a story,” he told Billy and Kit. “It’s not true.”

Adding, “It’s not like a terrible story to have out there. It’s not like I’m so upset about it. I mean, she’s really hot, but it’s just not true.”

“Cougar Town” returns tonight at 9:30 PM for a special Monday episode after “Dancing with the Stars” and also on Wednesday at 9:30 PM. Josh will also be seen on the big screen in “Lebanon, PA,” opening on April 29 in select cities. CLICK HERE to find out where the movie is playing near you!
