Courteney Cox Laughs Off Showmance Rumors; Which ‘Cougar Town’ Co-Star Is Next?

Courteney Cox is keeping her sense of humor about romance rumors with her “Cougar Town” co-stars. After having to deny reports of a relationship with Brian Van Holt and recently Josh Hopkins, the actress is getting ahead of any possible future rumors about co-star Ian Gomez.

Access Hollywood caught up with the star at The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences “Cougar Town” event in North Hollywood, Calif., on Wednesday night where she explained why a romance with Ian won’t be making headlines.

“Ian’s married, so that’s not going to work,” she said of the actor who plays her neighbor Andy on the show — and who is married to actress Nia Vardalos in real life.

“But, but I’m definitely going to start trying to hit on my son,” Courteney joked, referring to her onscreen son, Travis, played by Dan Byrd.

The actress said she’s been avoiding the press since she appeared on “The Howard Stern Show” last week with estranged husband David Arquette for a candid interview.

“I try not to look too much or read too much because, you know, the world is pretty mean out there,” she told Access. “I just got to stay away and just go about my business… I’m a big Stern fan, so I had fun. I just forgot other people were listening.”

As far as her scripted love life, the 46-year-old star said the onscreen relationship with her character Jules and Grayson (Josh Hopkins) will continue to blossom

“I think that as long as its working and people are wanting to see us together and it doesn’t become monotonous,” she said of the couple’s future together. “We just deal with real life issues. I think that it’ll keep going… I love working with him, I think he’s fantastic.”

“Cougar Town” airs Wednesdays at 9:30 PM on ABC.
