Dancing With The Stars’ Bill Engvall: ‘Everyday’ People Are Keeping Me On The Show

Comedian Bill Engvall continues to land in the bottom on “Dancing with the Stars.” So how is he staying in the competition while other stars – with higher scores – get the ballroom boot?

Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson spoke with Bill after Monday’s show, which saw Elizabeth Berkley Lauren and pro partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy (who ended the night in second place) eliminated.

“It’s the everyday guy and gal out there,” he said of who is keeping him on the show with their votes.

“I don’t have big time celebrity friends,” he continued. “I’m a comedian who’s been very blessed in my life with a wonderful family and a lovely wife and a great career as a comedian. I think this is [my fans] saying, ‘Hey man, we’re behind ya. We’re behind ya 100 percent,’ and obviously it showed tonight.”

Bill was quick to defend his place on the show with his professional partner, Emma Slater

“We deserve to be here because that’s part of the show,” he said of the audience’s vote.

And despite his injures, the 56-year-old vowed to work his hardest in the coming weeks.

“I’m still gonna do the best I can,” he told Shaun. “My knees hurt too and my legs hurt and I’ve got a pulled hamstring, but you know what, I’m still in there with Emma every day. We’re gonna keep on and we’re in the semi-finals!”

“Dancing with the Stars” continues next Monday night at 8/7c on ABC.
