Dancing With The Stars Week 9 Recap: Another Big Elimination Shocker

It’s been a season of shocking eliminations on “Dancing with the Stars” and Monday night delivered yet another.

(SPOILER ALERT: This article reveals the results from “DWTS.”)

Despite landing in second place on the leaderboard on Monday night (behind Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff), former “Saved By The Bell” star Elizabeth Berkley Lauren and Valentin Chmerkovskiy were not saved to dance again.

“I am so surprised to be standing here with the two of you tonight,” ”DWTS” co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet told the pair, when they learned they were going home.

“I’m sad,” Elizabeth said. “There [were] some more things that we wanted to do, but I am honestly like beyond grateful for this. This is one of the biggest gifts and blessings in my life and I want to thank everyone, especially Val. I’ve learned so much — obviously dance, but as a person and growth as a human being from our partnership, it’s something that I will hold so dear to me forever, and thank you everybody for voting and supporting all along.”

Val tried to cheer up his partner, who looked truly stunned by the news (as were many of the couples remaining in the competition).

“She’s done incredible,” he chimed in. “Celebrate yourself, be proud of yourself, believe in yourself. She came in a little timid, a little uncertain and now she grew into this amazing woman again… We don’t need a trophy. I just want that — I want you to love yourself.”

Judge Len Goodman, who made his return (Cher filled in for him last week) to the ballroom actually had predicted (wrongly) it would be comedian Bill Engvall who would go home, following the funnyman’s first dance earlier in the evening with pro Emma Slater.

“Bill, it’s gonna be the end of the line for you, I’m afraid, because that wasn’t good,” the Brit said, as they earned 21 points.

Bill and Emma picked up another 21 points later in the evening for their trio dance with pro Peta Murgatroyd. Their overall total for the evening was 42 out of 60, nine points shy of their closest competition – Amber Riley and Derek Hough, who took fifth with 51 out of 60 points.

On the top end of the leaderboard, Corbin and Karina proved unstoppable netting 58 out of 60 points for the night.

Bruno Tonioli called their first dance, a waltz, “Breathtaking,” as it earned 28 out of 30, but their trio dance – a jazz routine, had Carrie Ann Inaba offering rare praise.

“That may be the best routine I’ve seen in all [17] seasons,” she said, standing up to shout her commentary. “The choreography was insane.”

Both Carrie Ann and Bruno compared Corbin to the late great Bob Fosse, who they said Corbin reminded them of.

“Dancing with the Stars” continues next Monday night at 8/7c on ABC.

The Leaderboard:

Corbin Bleu & Karina Smirnoff 28/30 + 30/30 = 58/60

Elizabeth Berkley Lauren & Valentin Chmerkovskiy 26/30 + 30/30 = 56/60 *Eliminated*

Leah Remini & Tony Dovolani 27/30 + 27/30 = 54/60

Jack Osbourne & Cheryl Burke 29/30 + 25/30 = 54/60
