Dancing With The Stars: Zendaya ‘Energized’ By Early Lead

Disney star Zendaya is feeling the power of the ballroom – and being at the top of the leaderboard – on “Dancing with the Stars.”

Access Hollywood caught up with the 16-year-old actress, from Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up,” and her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy following Monday’s show, where the pair vaulted to the head of the “DWTS” pack.

“I felt energized and I was just, honestly, I was having a good time,” she told Access.

The bubby star said her power is staying positive.

“I was enjoying myself and that’s the most important thing. I was happy,” she continued. “I was having a good time and I think that’s why I’m here, to get better and learn something new, but also to really have fun!”

Zendaya and Val captured 26 points, which, when added to their Week 1 total, took them to a whopping 50 out of 60, the kind of score “Dancing” fans usually see much, much later in the competition.

However, next week’s theme is shaping up to be a challenge for Zendaya and Val.

“It’s prom week next week. So, honestly we’ve been having a bit of a difficultly picking a song because she’s never been to prom. She’s 16,” Val told Access.

“Yeah, so it’s kind of awkward,” Zendaya admitted.
