‘Dancing’s’ Derek Hough Says There’s No Drama With Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Derek Hough says there’s no bad blood between himself and fellow “Dancing with the Stars” professional Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

“Our relationship is pretty similar to how it’s always been,” Derek told Access Hollywood as he rehearsed with Ricki Lake on Friday in Los Angeles. “We’ve known each other for many, many years. This is a television show and I understand that people want to see drama where there’s not.”

Derek said the two pros even spent time together on Thursday.

“We were out last night with each other and had a good time. Hate to disappoint,” Derek said, referring to his squashing of the rumors.

The reports that Derek and Maks weren’t getting along surfaced just after Maks was seen on Monday night’s “DWTS” exiting a group rehearsal after growing frustrated with trying to teach his partner, Hope Solo.

The footage on “DWTS” then cut to Derek stepping in to help Hope learn the routine.

“I’m just a ‘Get on with it’ type of person,” Derek said of helping out the soccer star, when Maks clearly needed a moment. “I don’t like taking breaks.”

“DWTS” returns on Monday at 8/7 C on ABC.
