‘Dancing’s’ Kristin Cavallari, J.R. Martinez Hope Voters Will Overlook Issues & Send Them To Week 3

There were a few mishaps on Monday night’s “Dancing with the Stars,” but the one involving Kristin Cavallari had nothing to do with a wardrobe malfunction or a misstep.

During the broadcast, some viewers across the country experienced at first, a pixilated view of Kristin and her professional partner, Mark Ballas, performing a quickstep, and then a complete loss of picture, leaving many to miss out on her dance entirely.

After the show, Kristin said she hoped people who lost their DirecTV picture, would venture out to find her dance online and still cast their votes for the former “Hills” star.

“I hope that everyone has a computer and can go watch it on YouTube,” she told Access Hollywood. “Ahhh! That’s too bad.”

Kristin’s dance was a hit with the crowd and most of the judges, par Len Goodman, who took aim at Mark for breaking a hold in the number.

“Apparently Mark’s a little bit of a rule-breaker,” Kristin laughed. “But for him, it’s more about what the crowd likes and the fans like rather than what the judge likes. So, yeah, we broke a couple rules, but, eh? What are you going to do?”

Another rule-breaking pair – J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff – were chastised by Carrie Ann Inaba for doing a lift, and by Len, for performing more of a lindy hop than a jive. The judges deducted points for both errors, leaving last week’s leaderboard toppers in second place on Monday, but they stayed positive.

“We did great tonight,” Karina told Access. “People at home were entertained, people in the audience went crazy. That energy — we fed off of it so great.”

J.R. said he was holding out hope that America would pull the pair through to another week to make up for the lost points.

“The judges — they’re entitled to their opinion, whether we agree with them or not,” he said. “However, they’re only half of the process. The rest of it is up to America.”

“Dancing with the Stars” returns with its results show on Tuesday night at 9 PM ET/PT on ABC.
