Daniel Baldwin Passes 20 Drug Tests

LOS ANGELES (February 23, 2007) — Actor Daniel Baldwin has passed 20 drug tests and been sober for 92 days, his attorney told a judge.

“He’s doing exceptional,” said attorney Grant Hoagland Thursday during a progress report on his rehabilitation following a drug arrest.

The case stemmed from Baldwin’s arrest at a Santa Monica motel last April on two misdemeanor charges of possession of a cocaine ingesting device and being under the influence.

Hoagland said Baldwin completed a drug treatment program earlier this week and has entered an aftercare program that requires him to attend meetings and get a sponsor.

The actor pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Orange County Superior Court to unrelated charges that he illegally took another person’s car. He could face up to three years in prison if convicted of the felonies.

Authorities alleged he stole a white 2003 GMC Yukon from his friend Ken Smith, but Baldwin contends it was a misunderstanding.

Smith reported the car missing without knowing his cousin lent Baldwin the keys to the vehicle, the actor said.

Baldwin, brother of actors Alec, Stephen and William, has appeared in the television series “Homicide: Life on the Street” and the movie “Car 54, Where Are You?”
