Daniel Radcliffe On J.K. Rowling’s Newest Harry Potter Story: Would He Like To Play Adult Harry?

J.K. Rowling has brought Harry Potter back, releasing a new story on her Pottermore website on Tuesday, where her famed character has aged quite a bit, but don’t expect it to head to the big screen starring Daniel Radcliffe just yet.

Asked on Tuesday at the Television Critics Association Summer Tour in Beverly Hills about the new short story Rowling posted, and if he would be interested in reprising the famous role, Daniel suggested he wasn’t ready to step into Harry’s shoes any time soon.

“I don’t know. My inclination is to say no, also because this is — I don’t think it’s also a question that — it’s not even hypothetical at the moment, really,” Daniel told reporters, as he appeared via satellite from New York City to talk about his Ovation series, “A Young Doctor’s Notebook and Other Stories.” “I mean, what she’s written — I haven’t read it yet, I am going to read it, but [it is], as I understand it, a very, very short piece, that I’m not sure is of itself worthy of adaptation to film.”

Speaking about the short story, Daniel said the new Harry Potter in the author’s latest work is a bit older than he is (Daniel is 24).

“He’s at least sort of 12 years older in it than I am now, so I don’t think I’ll have to worry about that for a long time, I’m hoping,” he added.

The short story, where the older Harry Potter is described as about to turn 34, and with, “a couple of threads of silver in the famous Auror’s black hair,” can also be read on Today.com.
