David Cook Prepping Fall Debut With Producer Rob Cavallo

“Idol” winner David Cook is working on his debut album with Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo, Access Hollywood has learned.

Cavallo has helmed the releases of rock acts including Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Kid Rock and Eric Clapton.

Cook’s as-yet-untitled album is due this fall, he told Access at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday.

“I think we’re looking at mid-November,” he said. “The songs are coming together really well.”

Cook has been writing and recording in between playing shows on the American Idols Live Tour 2008, where his first single, “The Time of My Life,” is already becoming a fan favorite.

“We were in Newark, New Jersey, a couple of nights ago and the crowd sang the entire song back to me,” he said.

He told Access he’ll be releasing another single “as soon as possible.”

It’s been a rapid rise to the top for the 25-year-old Blue Springs, Miss. native, who broke chart records in May when he had 11 songs debut in the Billboard Hot 100 the week after his ‘Idol’ victory.

“To be where I was at a year ago and to be here now, it’s kind of a trip,” he said.
