David Duchovny is suing U.K. newspaper the Daily Mail over reports of an alleged affair between the actor and a tennis instructor, Access Hollywood has learned.
In a story published Oct. 18, the paper alleged that instructor Edit Pakay had a “full-blown sexual affair” with the “Californication” star, who recently announced his separation from wife Tea Leoni.
In documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by Access, Duchovny has sued the Daily Mail for defamation and false light invasion of privacy, and calls for a jury trial.

The suit calls for at least $1 million in damages.
“Publications are getting it wrong more often than not these days,” the documents stated, calling accusations that Duchovny cheated “false.”
“It never happened. Daily Mail knew that the story was false,” they continued.
In a statement released to Access on Monday, Duchovny’s lawyer, Stanton “Larry” Stein,” denied any questionable relationship between his client and Pakay.
“I met with Edit Pakay on Friday, October 17, 2008, at which time she confirmed that she considered David Duchovny a friend. She told me that they never had a romantic or sexual relationship,” Stein told Access.
Daily Mail writer Caroline Graham stood by her story when contacted by Access on Tuesday.
Duchovny and Leoni announced their separation last week, ending their 11-year marriage.
